Help centre /Roles

Who can do what in my business?

Your role decides which pages you can open and which buttons you can press. Roles are cumulative: each one can do everything the role below it can, plus more. Only an owner can change someone's role.

The five business roles

From least to most power: viewer, external advisor, compliance officer, admin, owner.

Two roles that do not mean what they sound like

External advisor is read-only. It ranks above viewer but no page in Sahihi requires it, so in practice it grants exactly what a viewer gets. Use it as a label for an outside accountant, not as a way to give someone extra power.

An admin cannot invite people. Admins run locations; only the owner runs the team and the plan. If you need someone added and you are an admin, ask the owner.

What happens when you are blocked

  • Wrong role: you land on an access-denied page telling you to ask an owner for a different role.
  • No business at all: opening a page sends you to the create-a-business form. Submitting a form or an in-page action instead fails outright, because there is no business to write to.

Firms, runners and directory listings

These sit outside the five business roles and have their own ladders.

Type States What it unlocks
Firm member Firm staff, firm admin Staff see the console; admins add and remove clients, manage the team and pay the bill. A firm admin acts as an admin on a client business; firm staff act as an external advisor.
Consultant or runner Pending, approved, suspended, rejected Only approved runners see the portal and the review queue. Anyone who has not applied is sent to the application form.
Directory professional Listed, claimed, verified Listed rows come from public sources. Claiming one flips it to claimed; a row someone else already claimed cannot be claimed again.
Sahihi staff Internal only Quality checks on submitted task evidence and dispute decisions. Nobody outside Sahihi can make those transitions.
